Power Equipment Shipping
Power generation and distribution equipment is sophisticated, high-value cargo with large dimensions. Our Port Captains supervise the lashing of heavy cargo and will ensure that the manufacturer’s specific instructions and safety are followed.
Power Generation and Distribution Equipment
Power generation and distribution equipment is sophisticated high value cargo with large dimensions including generators, gas turbines, combined heat, and power units. Due to the delicate nature of this cargo, it is crucial to handle its transportation with care. To meet these requirements, it is usually packed by manufacturers or dedicated packing companies. Once packed, we take charge of the transportation process, employing a series of meticulous measures to ensure its safe delivery.
The cargo will first be safely lashed onto our rolltrailers and then to designated lashing points on deck. These rolltrailers are specifically designed to accommodate and support the dimensions and weight of the power generation and distribution equipment.
Our Port Captains supervise the lashing of the cargo and will ensure that the manufacturer’s specific instructions and safety aspects are considered when securing the cargo.
By transporting cargo on our modern rolltrailers and securing it at the designated lashing points, we ensure that it is safely transported to its destination. This approach not only ensures the safety of the equipment but also minimizes the risk of any damage or potential accidents that may occur during transit. Our commitment to following manufacturer guidelines and considering safety aspects enables us to deliver the cargo to its destination in pristine condition.
When power generation and distribution equipment exceed standard dimensions, we have developed an innovative solution: the Double-wide rolltrailer concept. This concept involves strategically positioning two 40 feet rolltrailers side-by-side, joined together by a coupling system. This unique configuration provides the necessary stability and support for exceptionally wide cargo, guaranteeing its safe transportation.
Furthermore, we have engineered our own twin gooseneck, an essential component of the transportation process. This specialized mechanism ensures that the tug master maintains a firm always hold on the rolltrailer during transit. With this additional safety measure in place, we can confidently navigate any obstacles or challenges encountered along the route, further enhancing the security of the cargo.
The transportation of power generation and distribution equipment requires a comprehensive and meticulous approach. By relying on our advanced rolltrailers, adherence to manufacturer instructions, strict lashing procedures, and the implementation of our unique double-wide rolltrailer concept and twin gooseneck, we ensure the safe and secure transportation of this valuable cargo to its intended destination.
Why choose Höegh Autoliners for power equipment shipping?
Höegh Autoliners specializes in RoRo transportation of heavy and oversized cargo, including power generation and distribution equipment. Our carriers have the necessary infrastructure and expertise to handle such shipments.
Importing and exporting power generation and distribution equipment may involve compliance with customs regulations and safety standards in both the exporting and importing countries. We have expertise in navigating these regulations.
Why choose RORO shipping for power equipment?
Roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) power equipment shipping is a method of transporting heavy machinery and equipment. It is designed to facilitate the easy loading and unloading of oversized and heavy equipment onto specialized RoRo vessels.
The main benefits of transporting power equipment using RORO shipping include:
- RoRo shipping is known for its efficiency and speed in loading and unloading cargo. Power generation and distribution equipment can be driven directly onto the ship's deck, reducing the need for cranes and other specialized equipment for loading and unloading.
- RoRo vessels are equipped with ramps and specialized cargo securing systems to ensure that the equipment is securely fastened during transit. This helps protect the equipment from damage due to motion or rough sea conditions.
- RoRo shipping services are available in major ports around the world, allowing for the global transportation of power equipment to various locations.
Types of Equipment
With a fleet designed for maximum flexibility, we are able to cater for a wide range of cargo. Our customers range from global vehicle manufacturers to producers of high and heavy construction equipment and other rolling and non-rolling stock. Höegh Autoliners is also a leading carrier of secondhand vehicles.

Höegh Bridge
Using the Höegh bridge, we can easily transfer the railcars from the truck trailer they were transported to the railed rolltrailer. This process eliminates the need for crane lifting in both load and discharge ports, making the operation safer and less costly. For single trams up to 60 m, two or more railed rolltrailers are placed in front of each other and connected with a Höegh bridge. Transfer from road truck to extended rolltrailer is performed in the vessel’s cargo hold.
